I’m Josh Osborn, aka Lavelain
That’s Lave, like Gave for those who’re curious. My day job involves a lot of public speaking and appearances, as well as the creation of media and dialogue for various projects, events and fundraisers. I’ve been streaming on twitch for approximately two years, primarily as a creative outlet to help me hone my vocal range, voice acting ability and reach a wide audience.
Some questions I get asked all the time:
Why do you enjoy Voice Acting?
I’ve always had a passion for acting. Doing voice acting ticks the box for me in regards to what I get out of “traditional” acting, but with the added element of allowing me to leverage one of my best talents, being able to emote through my voice.
Why do you like to do voices on your stream?
Not only is it good practice for voice acting, it makes for good content! The practice reading unfamiliar dialogue quickly doesn’t hurt when being presented with a new script, either.
Do you do voices at home, and with friends?
Yes, and I’m not always aware when I’m doing them! Sometimes, when I’m quoting a movie I find myself slipping into the mannerisms and vocal approximation of what I saw. In the case of a book, I’m bringing my own interpretation out to everyone else.
Do you do voices at work too?
For the voice acting gigs, certainly! But at the day job, not if I can help it. I do enunciate clearly and project during my speaking performances. Less Voices, more Acting.
Every other Friday, I play Table Top Role Playing Games with a group of like-minded friends and streamers at PlusFiveProficiency.
